Corporation COVID-19 Antigen Testing

In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 among the Corporation, the Superintendent has authorized the purchase of Abbot BinaxNOW COVID-19 Antigen Testing. Testing is only for Corporation-enrolled students and staff. Public members cannot get testing at the Corporation.

Health Screener

In the 2019-20 school year, RCS required all families to complete a daily health screener before they entered any RCS school or building on a daily basis.

This year, RCS will require all parents/guardians to complete a "Health Screener Attestation Form". This forms attests that the parent will review the symptoms listed below of COVID-19 and that if their child has any of theses, they are bound to keep their child at home and get tested for COVID-19. Parents will not need to submit a form to us, they only need to call the school if they are keeping their child home because they present a symptom of COVID-19.

If your child has any of the following symptoms OR is a close contact and presents one of the following symptoms, please call the school:

  • Fever of 100.4 or above

  • Chills

  • Sore Throat

  • Cough

  • Shortness of Breath

  • Diarehea

  • Nausea/Vomiting

  • Abdominial Pain

  • Headace

  • New loss of taste or smell

Health Screener FAQs

If my child is fully vaccinated and presents a symptom, do they have to stay home?

A. Yes, your child must stay home that day and get tested for COVID-19.

I believe it is just allergies. Can they still go to school?

A. They must have a negative COVID-19 test to prove this. We suggest getting Abbott COVID-19 rapid tests (available at CVS and Walgreens) as we accept those results. If it is negative, your child is permitted to attend school that day.

Can my child screen themselves?

A. Yes they are able to do that. Remember that if they present a symptom and still show up to school, they risk the consequences outlined in the attestation form.

What if I refuse to get a COVID-19 test?

A. If you present a symptom and need to stay home and refuse to get a COVID-19 test, you must quarantine for 14 days. We would urge getting a COVID-19 test as if it is negative, and you do not present more symptoms, you can attend school. By not getting tested, you could miss more school days than necessary.
